My FEH will not go into EV mode unless the air is completely turned off even at idle. The charging/assist needle is staying in the middle unless I take off then it moves to assist ever so slightly. When I'm driving it takes alot to stay at the mph I need. When going 60mph the rpm is staying at 3000. I've also lost 13mpg, even when driving around city and highway. Also, my circulating air doesn't work anymore. What could be the cause?

 

my charge assist needle rarely budges from the middle as well, my mpg is ~27 fwy and 10 city!?... this is my first experience w/ hev technology.

 

I have the opposite issues (AC cuts off when in EV) but read in the owners manual that on the Auto, Defroster or Floor and Defroster settings when the outside air temp is freezing and above the engine will stay on to keep AC cold. You will have to hit the Econ button or another AC setting to regain the EV function of the gas engine shutting down. Hope that helps if not read that section in the Owner's Manual on HVAC settings.
