The All-New Hummer EV in both truck and SUV format graces the floors of SEMA, showing what the future of offroad adventure looks like.

Although Hummer as a division of GM went defunct in 2010, many people still grasp tightly to their love for the iconic boxy and military-spec shape. The original Hummer was unleashed on the American public as a street-going version of the military-issues Humvee. The initial release was backed by Arnold Schwarzenegger and promised to be the best 4×4 vehicle there was. Unfortunately, the Hummer also goes down in history as one of the most inefficient vehicles one could buy. It truly is a poster child of an environmental disaster of a vehicle in many peoples’ minds. So, GM is looking to change that stigma with the Hummer EV. Frankly, they’re off to a good start!

Found in the West Hall at SEMA 2021 is the Hummer EV booth. On display are two Hummer EV pickups, a standard Hummer EV SUV, and their racing truck built for the Extreme E offroad race series. Also on display is a multitude of accessories available for the Hummer EV.

Hummer EV has an accessory option for any adventurous need.

To say that the accessories available target those seeking adventure is a vast understatement.

Offroading accessories include an off-road recovery kit, 50-inch lightbar, dual spare tire carrier with a jack and toolbox, and an exterior lighting package to light any trail. Furthermore, a roof rail package offers rooftop cargo space for any luggage or goods. Finally, an elevated rack-mounted Free Spirit Recreation tent ensures owners a great place to finish off their day of adventure.

Other accessories include a Kicker audio system, lockable center console storage, an under-seat organizer, a convertible top, and 18-inch eight-spoke wheels.

The performance figures of the Hummer EV are quite astounding. According to GM’s official website, the pickup variant is available with up to 1,000 horsepower. Additionally, the SUV variant is available with up to 830 horsepower. GM also advertises up to 11,500 pound-feet of torque. Although, that number seems to come from multiplying the torque number by the vehicle’s gear ratio. According to Car and Driver, this equates to somewhere between 715 and 834 pound-feet of torque in traditional automotive measurement.

According to GM, these insane power numbers are good to propel the truck from zero to 60 miles per hour in just three seconds. Additionally, the SUV variant is not far behind at a still eye-watering 3.5 seconds.

Finally, GM states that the pickup variant is good for 350 miles or more on a single charge. Furthermore, the SUV variant trails only slightly at 300 miles or more. Additionally, both can charge at 800 volts, meaning they can charge to an additional 100 miles in as little as ten minutes.  It also features other standard EV goodies like one-pedal driving and regenerative braking.

The 2022 Hummer EV is definitely an exciting addition to the electric vehicle market and fills an awesome and under-catered niche. Electric off-road vehicles are few and far between. So, GMC adding these superb additions to their fleet is likely to be a great sales success story. We look forward to seeing them on the roads!
