I think if the code is getting to be too much work, then get whatever done what it takes to keep this site up. Cool site dude.

Here's another idea: we could brainstorm all the new features we'd like and I'd design the new system. Then we'd decide whether we should hire a developer of if I should recode it myself (if I'm able).

 

I've only been lurking here a couple weeks, but you've got a very attractive and easy to navigate site Jason. I'm always in favor of improvement of anything, so I support "revamp" though I don't think it is mandated by falling behind the 'competition.'

You and the community which has gathered here have lots to be proud of.

The site looks good as it is, but I am sure it takes a load of your time behind the scenes to make sure it runs. The database could do many things and if you don't feel like you have the skills to do that part maybe a person in this community does. I like the idea of brainstorming ideas for improvement.

I guess I will vote for revamp, but hopefully it will go slowly and thoughtfully.

Hmm. Okay, well I say we brainstorm our dream mileage system. After significant time is spent doing that, I'll plan a new one. Then I'll work on the design, and finally either I'll recode it or pay a developer to do it.

My main concern is that it's getting too much to handle as far as security, add-ons, server load and overal functionality.

Good plan?

 

It sounds like a good plan. I was just thinking if someone from "the community" had the expertise then the work may be better.

You mean the expertise to be hired as a developer? I don't know if anyone does, and I'm definitely going to do some developer shopping if I don't code it myself.
