The ONLY drawback I see to this great fourum is that you can not attach photos in your posts for others to see. I don't want to put them in my gallery. Is there a reason for this?

 

This is so that there's an easy way to find all the images anyone has every uploaded. They're not stuck in some thread from a year back. But, actually, you can upload it to the Share section and then start a new thread. On the right side of the text box you'll see a menu called My Pictures, from which you can attach thumbnails and links.
