Indeed, I had never floored my Prius (I baby it) but was in a situation where I needed to pull ahead of the car to my left if I was going to avoid being left in a lane that was ending - so I floored it. It was laughable, that other car blew my doors off, by several car lengths. It was almost like I hadn't floored it at all. The car basically moved forward a bit then lunged starting up the gas engine and during the lunge the other car was already gone.

haha Which presents an $80,000 problem I do not intend to solve. If it's the kind of problem you find easy to solve however, I encourage you to invest in the future of American cars.
