*About the same mileage as the CVT Honda Insight.
*Lots of interior room.
*NAV system is very fun.
*Bluetooth for my cell phone.
*No special tires, unlike with the Honda Insight.
*Electric only mode is is really cool.
*Backup camera is a nice safety touch.
*Voice operated systems.
*The body style is great without looking to strange.
*Nice not having to look through the steering wheel to see the instrument cluster.
*Horizontal oil filter setup, makes for easier filter changes.
*Side impact air bags, the best safety feature to date.
*Back seats comfortable for adults.
*Keyless ignition.
*Driving feels smooth and fun.
*Stereo has radio station call signs.
See there are many more things I do like about my Prius than I hate about it. I think it is an evolution and Toyota get it perfected. That's why it is important we post complaints or Toyota won't know what to fix.

Re: Needed Improvements
Thanks for that, but I think the original premise of the thread is much more useful to anybody who is considering buying a Prius. It's easy for people to pick out the nice points and convenient features of any car, as they know what they want, but it's the stuff you figure out after the purchase that always leaves one with the "why the hell did they do that?" feeling.

I just figured out that the mod for the rear wiper is not needed. The cap can be easily popped off for when you want the wiper blade to stay up for cleaning. So again, there is no need to cut the plastic tab inside the cap as Toyota made it so the cap comes off very easy.

Re: Needed Improvements
A while back I had a mazda with a rear window wiper. It was able to be lifted away from the glass as the front wipers can.
I know from experience with this car/wiper setup that it would have been a blessing to have the wiper lock down against the glass.
At highway speeds, approx 65mph on up the wiper would lift itself from the window and flutter around extended from the window as if I forgot to put it back down.
It was most annoying and I am guessing Toyota has seen it happen as well and took steps to make sure it wont happen on their cars.
There is usually a reason for most everything, just because we dont 'get it' doesnt mean its a problem. IF I hadnt experienced the problem with the wiper lifting completely, I too would wonder why it didnt swing out.

I have been wondering why Toyota decided not to include a temperature gauge in the Prius. It is bad enought there is no tachometer but a freaking temp gauge is priceless in preventing major engine damage.
