More power in 2010 Prius=better MPG?
I have a Camry Hybrid and wife has 2007 Prius. In my car i can drive on the Hway and still get over 40 mpg driving 65. In the Prius, there is a lack of power that seems to eat at our MPG when we are at 55 or better.
My thought is the extra power in the Camry works well on the hway. With the newer Prius having more horsepower, does this translate to better MPG on Hway driving? To me the 07 Prius gets great MPG on 40-50 mile an hour flat state roads, but on the hway it drops below 50 mpg driving 60 or less.
Are there any owners with experience driving the older Pirus and seeing whatever driving differences with the newer Prius which has more horsepower?

I was present w/about 50+ other Prius enthusiasts watching a closed circuit feed of the 2010 Prius in Detroit in January 09 and saw and got in the car later that evening. Toyota's stated that the larger engine lets them get better mileage on the highway.
You can compare what CR got on the 3rd gen vs. 2nd gen via http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/c...view/index.htm and http://replay.web.archive.org/200812...-206/index.htm.
Last page of http://www.consumersunion.org/Oct_CR_Fuel_Economy.pdf describes CR's tests and the pre-model year 08 EPA tests.
You should be able to achieve 50+ mpg on the highway in a 2nd gen non-touring Prius at 60+ mph. On my old commute, I could achieve a 50 mpg "tank" if I kept my speed below 70 mph. CR conducts their highway test at 65 mph.
There's also a lot of great info on the 3rd gen Prius at http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii-...ogy-video.html (videos and PDF).
