Could someone clarify the cruise control on 2007 Prius?

Generally when I push down the lever, I don't succeed in engaging cruise control, but sometimes I do. And what does the push button on the end of the lever do?

(Probably doesn't help that I'm far-sighted and don't have my reading glasses on in the car, so I can't actually see what the lever symbols are trying to say. For the same reason, the backup camera is pretty useless for me ... but I digress.)

The button on the end of the Cruise Control lever
turns CC on and off. The reason you probably can't
activate CC is that it is not on. If CC is on there
will be a dash indicator that displays "Cruise Control"
Give that a try and don't foget those glasses.

 

Thanks for that cogent explanation. The dash I can see OK, so now I know where to look for confirmation.

 

You can also adjust your cruising speed by 1 MPH increments/decrements (this last words seems awfull, don't even know if it really exists) by flicking the lever, up is increase, down is decrease.

 

The cruise control is like in any vehicle. It is done in a standard way in all cars so we don't get confused.
