2005 toyota prius

What does it mean when you press the map button, and it says the external system is not connected? Do i need a dvd or what? Does anyone know the cheapest place to buy a smart key?

I can't help on the navigation systems but I bought my last key from Ebay. However, you may still have a problem getting the car to recognize it. The NHW11, 01-03 Prius was fairly easy to program.
