Dang it! My 03 Prius, NHW11 mods have that goal . . . Oh well, the journey is its own reward.

Smugness directed at other hybrids

Note that 113 UK mpg translates to 94 US mpg - still stellar. Will it factor to 80mpg by the EPA?

It's a sad commentary that only now that the Insight's reign as mpg champion is threatened since it was introduced in 1999. Plenty of developments in regenerative braking, motors, software, batteries, etc. and hardly anyone has bothered to best the Insight. Disappointed the Honda Fit is not even going to come close to the Insight's FE.

I might break down and get an MIMA kit to keep up.

Dang, Chuck... i forgot about thos doggoned Imperial Gallons.....

my [large] seat-of-the-pants guess was that with some retuning for maybe a bit more acceleration in the US models, we'd probably be able to see real-world mpgs around 75, so that sounds like it's not far from what you're guesstimating, either.

maybe i'll get to trade my '04 Prius against an '08 or '09.... then, if my wife gets the '07 camry hybrid, like we're talking about, she may end up with a 50-60 mpg Generation II camry hybrid around 2012.... gotta budget for these things...
