MMooney - I thought the same thing on mine @ 26k. Those next 2-4K of miles might just surprise you though. As stated, I was "religious" on mine and it essentially did not help. I did run them for about 25% of their life at the 40-42lbs pressure before lowering them back down to the "recommended" 36-38lbs level.
