wow engine block heater is a very underrated tool... even in the summer...
wow wwest where did u get your info from, if anything a EBH greatly enhances CAT life due to being able to ignite to its operating temperature quicker thanks to heat from the warmed block. How on earth a CAT life is suppose to be reduced when it needs to be hot to operate in the first place? a lot of your posts are wacked dude.
No Toyo added the coolant thermos in the nwh20 prius so they can reap in CAT replacements in the future... TOTAL SENSE THERE BUDDY
man and beleive it or not heated seats is a good efficency tool when u don't want to rob heat from the enigne block.... man do you even know how efficent a heat seater is? compared to burning more gas to heat the passgenger compartment in the winter?
The EBH, Engine Block Heater, might just turn out to be a mistake in teh long term, possibly a BIG mistake. In order to more quickly "lite-off" the catalytic converter the engine and transaxle control "mapping" is modified until the engine reaches normal operating temperature.
An EBH might easily shorten the time the engine takes to climb to that normal operating temperature, leaving the catalyst at a substandard temperature, thereby shortening the life of the catalyst.
