Default B Position

Has anyone ever used the "B" position for the tranny? I did the other day and nearly had a heart attack. The noise was as loud as any semi I've heard in the mountains. Holy Cow!

Anyone else have this experience?

I used it a few times in heavy traffic and going downhill. It was smooth and quiet. I couldn't detect a significant slow down like downshifting a normal automatic.

Shift to B only if the speed is below 45 MPH to prevent driveline shock.

The sensation is like shifting to lower gear. However, the effect is maximizing battery charge. If the battery is full, it will continue to slow down by engine braking.

When you are fully stopped, the engine may continue to run. I usually shift it back to drive before I am fully stopped to turn off the engine.
