2009 HiHy w/ P3011 - Battery Block 1 Becomes Weak

Re: 2009 HiHy w/ P3011 - Battery Block 1 Becomes Weak
The 06-07's were prone to having their inverters go south so keep that in mind when shopping as well.
That being said they can both be quite fuel efficient and body styles are definitely personal preference.

is that even if they had their inverters replaced after the recall?

I'm not sure if that is the case of not because I've seen quite a few different failure modes and I don't know if they are all addressed at the time of the recall.

In case someone wants to see what I have been doing to solve this issue , it´s all in this thread on Priuschat (esp read pages 11-13 where I solved it).

I also suggest reading this thread as well since anyone working on a Toyota hybrid should have one of these too.

So I recently got this error code on a Toyota Corolla hybrid and I did an OBD2 scan with the Dr.Prius app. Block one and Block five were showing high internal resistance.
So I took the battery out and it seemed like the contacts on the busbar sensing wires were very corroded as shown in the image.
I used a fine sand paper (No. 1000) and carefully cleaned off the corroded contacts and reinstalled the battery pack. Since then the internal resistance has dropped back to normal and I am no longer been the P3011 code.

Good info. Did the EV mode performance improve?
Did you use any corrosion preventive coating to keep it from happening again?
Back in the day when we had corrosion problems on 12v battery posts, we'd do a thorough cleaning and neutralize the corrosion with baking soda and a tiny bit of water, rinse and dry, then before reconnecting - coat the posts and clamps with petroleum jelly. It's non-conductive, but displaces very easily so there's no insulative issues. It creates a moisture barrier that prevents future reoccurrance.
I still do this, even did it on my HiHy 12v battery... because it was corroding... now it stays clean.
Your post is a good reminder for me... I would like to try this on my HiHy traction battery pack... looks like a good weekend project.
