Thumbs up 2006 Highlander Hybrid LTD - Mileage just improved a LOT

So my highlander hybrid LTD (one of the first to ship) just passed 9000mi and the mileage jumped from around 24.5 average to getting around 29.5 on my most recent tank. 26.6 on my last.

It keeps getting better.

I'd guess Hybrid break in, and probably warmer weather.

I think its because of the break in. I'm around 9500mi as of today and holding around 28.7-29.4 mpg at 150 mpg. Its AWESOME to look at the odo and see I've driven 150 and the Fuel Indicator still shows 3/4 of a tank.

Its a wonderful feeling. I'm also running the A/C, as I am a comfort fiend - I always run it at around 70 on a medium to medium low setting. I used to turn the A/C off on long highway drives and try to cool the car with just open vents and no fan, to increase the mpg.

Frow the freeway driving I've been doing, I bet the 5 to LA will now be more like a 32mpg drive (until you hit the grapevine.)

I have close to 13k on my 2006 HiHy limited. I just filled up today after a 29.0 mpg tank, mostly in town miles with air con on low to medium constantly. Best I've had yet. Oh, it was 87 octane.
