Where to Buy Extended Warranty - Best Price

Re: Where to Buy Extended Warranty - Best Price
Just got off the phone with Midwest Toyota... They had a price increase on the 15th. A 7yr 100K 0 deductible warranty is now $940.00. Something about Toyota was not taking into account the Hybrid. The manager was very professional and polite. They also offer the service agreement for $630.00. My local dealer wanted $995, but of course they also wanted $1600 for the warranty which was from Old Republic ( A very good company but not Toyota). Does anyone else have any updates or more current prices for warranties?

Please explain to us what you mean by "service agreement".
If you are referring to service intervals, can you please tell us the details?
(how many oil changes, does it include other stuff like tire rotation, etc)

Re: Where to Buy Extended Warranty - Best Price
The "Service Agreement" is for all the scheduled services up to and including the 45k service. 5K oil changes, 15, 30 & 45K major service. I am not recommending only mentioning the fact. I realize some people like to do their own service or have a shop they are comfortable with, but if you have an extended warranty it is one way to help ensure there are no problems with "all services" being done.

Even though the Prius has been out a while it's still a bit of an unknown. You have most of the components of a regular car plus the hybrid components. Yes I know you have no starter, alternator, torque converter, etc. but you have a tremendous amount of new and different components as well as a tremendous number of "black boxes".
It's also a marketing thing. They can charge more because of the unknowns, even if it's just as reliable. Plus the unknowns get people nervous, so they'll be more willing to shell out the $$$.
