Anyway, you're not far off with your astute observation. When I showed up at the dealership yesterday, they were adhering the side mirrors - something I thought was done at the shipyard! Also, there was 7 miles on my ODO when I finally took delivery. I wonder what the inspection involved....something in my mind flashed on that scene from Ferris Beuller's Day Off and I cringed a little bit.

Yeah, I've seen Camry's on local dealer lots with the mirrors still packaged up in the trunk.
When we first saw our Jasper Pearl, it had 4 miles on it. We put another few on in a test drive. A few days later, we went back and drove it again, and the odo indicated that nobody else had driven it in between. After our longer test drive it had 16 miles on it. When we took delivery, it had 18, so there was a grand total of 6 miles put on it by anybody else.
The dealer told me that when they got their very first TCH, which was preordered, they talked the buyer into leaving it at the dealer for a month (for no discount or other financial consideration) so they could show it to others and let them test drive it. Apparently, when the buyer finally took delivery, he/she was pretty upset at the odo reading, but I didn't find out what the number was. I don't think I'd agree to the same thing unless they were knocking a pretty good chunk off the price.
When I get home this weekend, I'll have to check my VIN to see the production sequence number.

I'm a bit confused about the numbers. Mine is number 922 and it arrived at the dealer on 6/9. Other posters who received there TCHs at the same time are in the 3000 - 5000 range.
Perhaps some sit in distribution centers longer than others.
