For North America, Denso seems to be building all of the current Toyota Nav units, so the operation/functionality is going to be pretty close to the same no matter which unit you get. I don't see an advantage to going with a different model, except it will be hard to install because of the face plate.
There are these units:

(...you might have to sign into eBay to see these.) These are built by a third party, but have never seen one actually running. Not sure if they are better or worse.
What don't you like about the factory unit? I have a lot of units, the Denso one is not bad.

I know about the different models concerning the enery screens in the Canadian dealer installed units (I'm the guy that got them working!)

, but the original poster to this thread is a U.S. citizen who just didn't like the software on the navigation unit and was looking for other options. It sort of turned into an energy screen discussion after that.
It was him I was posting some options for. Most of the Toyota/Lexus units would not be different enough I don't think. The Kenwood (4100) is also a Denso unit, though the G510 is Garmin based.
By the way, I see Scosche now has a kit for the Camry.

That would certainly make installing an aftermarket unit easier. Some of the after market units, like the Pioneer AVIC-Z2 are really nice, but personally I still think you are giving up a lot by going with an after market unit, since it would be "difficult" to integrate things like the steering wheel controls, voice recognition, bluetooth, etc., but to each his own.

Confirmation - when you switch to miles, it speaks miles - when you switch back to km it speaks km. Very smooth speech - same voice.

I don't like the voice interface. It is clumsy and requires a lot of verbage compared to others I have used. Actually, the same is true for the Bluetooth as well.

Have to agree with you there. Especially in the Camry, it sounds like she's on Valium or something. I wish I could "speed her up".
There was a post on here about someone who had their dealer pick a different voice, but when I look on the map disk, all I see is "Jill", so not sure how that's possible.

You can make her a bit less verbose by turning off "voice prompts", but I'm guessing you already did that.
