Default TCH, 5 month report.

Have had my tch since May 7th, 2007. First off am very well satisfied with its overall performance, mpg, ride and handling. Lowest mpg has been 33, best on a 400 mile trip to the NH mountains was 38.8. On the way home from NH, 41.8 in 150 miles to SE, MA, near the RI border. Approximately 85% of most of the normal driving is city, lots of rolling terrain, some suburbs and a bit of farmland roads. Actually most drives are within an 8 mile radius of home. All mpg's given are from MFD.

It rides as good or better then any previous car owned/driven since 1955.

Does lean on curves as others have mentioned but never a problem to anticipate and handle. Has Bridgestone turanzo (sp?) and would say they are noisy in the rain but handle fine. Have always been a Michelin tire user for the past dozen years. My dealer would not swap to Michelins and this is the only gripe on my dealership. Think it was because of having to pay their tire person to do the labor but not certain. (just a judgement on my part).

Previous to the TCH, have had 2 v6 Toyota's. TCH definitely will not take off as quick. Once up to cruising speed of 35, felt it accelerated fine to pass, change lanes etc.

Usually change cars between 2 and 4 years. The way it stands with me now the next car will be another TCH.

Happy driver here. tjq.

Glad to hear the car is working out well for you. I've been watching this board for quite some time and the universal opinion is that this is a well designed and reliable car.

After just selling my 16 MPG Explorer I'm itching to pull the trigger and get a TCH. The nearest Toyota dealer has had at least 2 to 4 in stock for the last few months, but I'm going to wait until November (if I can hold out that long) hoping they will deal then.

Thanks for your report.

I agree with you that once you've driven a V6, it takes a while to get used to taking off with the TCH.

It does handle well once up to speed as you mentioned!

I just got mine so its nice to read about other experiences with the car.

Seeing the TCH is a relatively new technology the curiosity factor prompts questions from drivers in parking lots, neighbors etc. First is what is my mpg. Tell them my lowest to my highest mpg. (33 mpg low, 41 highest). Then they ask how we like driving it. Definetly a fun car to drive. Does not tell how to get the best mileage but through the MFD the car shows when one drives, if they are getting the optimum mpg. From this we learn the increased mpg trick. (not realy a trick, just common sense)

From my 5 months of ownnership and 8,000 miles of use, my reccomendation is to buy it for a great mid size sedan ride and super long time between fuel fill ups.

Thanks. tjq
