I wouldn't bother trying to fix the squeaking myself. Toyota has issued a TSB on the problem and replaces part of the center console as well as adds some felt pads. I've had it done on mine and it works well.

"For everyone's information, here's TSB2757, which is the Canadian version of the U.S. TSB NV005-07 "Shifter Trim Squeak Noise," that I got from my dealer. I apologize for the five separate files, each with a single GIF image, but the GH site wouldn't accept them all together in a single ZIP or DOC file, and of course, it also won't accept GIF files directly."
