Split 60/40 rear seat.
Has anyone seen this feature? The Camry folder and online info states that the rear seat folds down, but salesmen have told me emphatically that the Camry Hybrid will not have this feature.

Re: Split 60/40 rear seat.
Several of the reviews on cars.com by people I hope have actually seen the car indicated a passthrough, not splilt folding rear seats, as in the non-hybrid versions. It seems that the battery pack may be vertically oriented behind the rear seat.

The specifications on Toyota's website say the hybrid DOES have a 60/40 folding bench. The only version that does not is the SE because there's a stiffening brace behind the seat. And technically the XLE has 40/20/40 seats.

Check out the photo here. Definately an obstruction!

So it looks like it folds down, but it might not be "supported".
Lots of good photos at this site.

Re: Split 60/40 rear seat.
The LE i looked at today surprised me with how narrow the trunk opening is. Although both seats fold down, bracing on the sides and top restrict the opening size. It seams they've really strengthened this part of the car for safety & performance reasons. On the SE they put diagonal braces behind the seat, eliminating the fold-down altogether.
Did either of you guys look at the back seat of the hybrid you drove?

I checked out the split seat. Here's the story: They do split, but the feature is best for laying the seats flat for loading things in the rear passenger area. The only pass-through is on the 60% side, and it's a rather small opening, maybe 8" tall by 24" wide, at the most. Still, better than any other hybrid car has offered.
