Spammer on forums
There are new spammers on these forums. Sadly, spammers can overrun and destroy the good nature of help forums.
These spammers are copying text from legitimate posts here (to give them a sense of authenticity) and then creating a new post elsewhere in the forums putting a spam link in their signature. It's easy to get assume these posts are real so you end up spending your time replying to them.
Here is an example, this is a legit post someone made about a windshield stain. The spammer copied the entire post and added it to another thread...note the signature as well as they "hello friends" and "thanks for helping us" text...they do this to all their posts. They assume if you think they're friendly, you're more likely to spend time on the post and eventually see and click the link.
If you see a post that has a spam link (credit cards, etc.) in the signature, please click the alert admin link and report it as such. Then reply letting others know you reported it and reply telling others it's a spam post lest they waste their time on replying, etc.
I don't believe these forums have active admin participation, so the only way they'll know about the post is if we self police the forums.
Thanks!
