So I guess you are just getting the new car because you want the Nav system and the white paint. I can't argue with that as I really enjoy my white 2009 TCH with Nav. The color is really striking.

Actually we are selling the car because we can get a new one with a new warranty and 40,000 less miles for only about $7K out the door. (The added Nav costs more than that, but I'm making an apples-to-apples compairison.

Think about it. If I kept it for another 40,000 miles, the resale would be really low.

Well conventional wisdom is that the older your car is the less the depreciation is and that the steapest depreciation is the moment you drive it off the lot. You are proposing that this migh not be true of hybrids because of the battery age issue. Have you looked into the depreciation curve of the 2004 Prius for example?

jg- I sold while "oil peak" prices were still high. I'm buying at "after peak" prices. These are not conventional times. Our fairly high mileage per-year add to the equation.

One more week to go!

Car "should" be at dealer's next Thursday.
I fly in to pick-up the car next Sunday.
Equipment on the Invoice matches what I wanted.
Their pricing matches what they told me.
Keeping fingers crossed that all goes well.

Sunday? All dealerships are closed on Sundays around here (IL, and as far as I know - IN, MI, WI).
Good luck with the pickup and drive back.

I lived in CALIF for most of my life, where dealers are open 7 days a week. That was just the way things were. It was quite a shock for me to drive up to the Auto Mall in Tucson, AZ on a Sunday, shortly after moving here in 1992, ready to buy a new car, to find them closed. The dealers in Phoenix, AZ (about 100 miles away) are open Sundays. The dealers in Tucson don't seem to be as willing to deal as the ones in Phoenix either...Go figure.
