I was skeptical, but read through the fine print and it's true. If I never use it I get it all back minus I believe about $50. If I cancel it prior to the term expiring I only get a prorated refund.

BTW, mine is a third party warranty - not one from Toyota. So I of course have to hope they're still around in seven years.
I will check my Toyota Platinum paperwork and see if this is true with the factory plans.

Last I looked Toyota did not offer a 8 year plan. Perhaps that has changed. Your policy coverage changes depending on which area of the country YOU are in at the time of the claim? If yes, and the fact it's 8 years leads me to believe you didn't even get a genuine Toyota policy. Some dealers are real bastards.

We are under Southeast Toyota. Southeast does alot of stuff different that other parts of the country.

Check out this link:

We can't go though Toyota, but the company we have is owned by Toyota.

And make sure you get copies of the cancel order. I just called Toyota directly and they mysteriously didn't receive my cancellation paperwork from the dealer. The dealer didn't want to give me a copy but I made them. I will now fax it myself.

I'll wait until TFS has the warranty in the system, and then cancel thru them. I was told (by TFS) that when you cancel thru them that they will send the refund out and back-charge the dealer for it. There is at least a bit more piece of mind in dealing with TFS rather than the dealer. Plus, the dealer gets a little "surprise" when they find out that its cancelled and they can't monkey around with you.

Some dealers may have been o.k. to deal with regarding this but others might milk the time and effort for a refund since it's out of thier pocket. Besides, I'd rather tell TFS that I want to cancel due to the dealer raking the customers. Who knows - maybe if enough people (that buy thru the dealer) cancel thru TFS, Toyota may take notice of how dealers are screwing Toyota customers. Maybe TFS might set a 'fair market" rate -but then, that rate could go higher than the rate from Midwest or Watertown. Go figure.....

I cancelled my agreement today. Very simple process, just fax in your request and it is done in 3 minutes. Received a refund of $ 2, 525.80 out of $2,800.00. Not a bad deal at all considering the fact that I have over 6,000 miles and I'm purchasing a new agreement next week. Is midwest Toyota still reliable???

Thanks everyone for your help. I am very, very grateful!!!!!!

I purchased the 8yr/100 plan as well - it was offered during financing.

Thank you everybody for your input. I have purchased the 6 yr / 100,000 mile warranty from Toyota of Greenfield for $875.00 (I had the 6 yr 75,000 mile warranty). I spoke to Troy. Saved a net of about $1500.00 from the crooked dealership (Toyota of The Bronx a.k.a. Bronx Automotive Group).

Thanks so much guys!!! I just got my paperwork from Toyota of Greenfield (Troy) and I purchased the 6 yr/100, 000 mil extended warranty for my magnetic (metallic) gray TCH at $ 875 only. I had the $2800 6yr/75,000 mil warranty from the dealer cancelled 2 weeks ago, just waiting for my refund.
