As I understand it, the Michelin Energy series tires are low rolling resistance (LRR) tires — I think that's what the designation "Energy" refers to. They use a silica-bearing rubber compound to reduce rolling resistance. They may not be the very lowest LRR tires obtainable, but since tire manufacturers don't appear to be willing to actually specify their tires' rolling resistance, it's hard to say.

Stan, I think he (Chris) was saying that he did not know if the Energy tires would be adequte for wnter snow conditions. Chris, if I read it rignt, you can consider the Michelin Primacy Alpins for winter use. They are LRR like the Energy and they are snow tires. I had a set on last winter and they performed as well as the Energy. However, you need to take them off in the summer becasue the compound is softer and they will wear more on pavement. I just took mine off last week.

I'm not sure what 209 Camrys come with...I've seen Bridgestones on the 2008, so I figure it's the same.

I think they shoul d have used run-flats on the hybrid - get back some more trunk space.

People claim issues with them, but I've had them, and they are about the same as any others (even if they aren't Michelins :-) )

 

Toyota always seems to have at least two OEM sources for tires on any given model. I strongly suspect that they will go to the Michelin "Energy Savers" next for the TCH. This is a next generation LRR version of the Energy line, and is aleady available in Europe. Toyota has already signed up for it on the Yaris in Europe. I am not sure what they will call the tire when it becomes availble in the US, but one dealer told me that he thought it would be a part of the new Primacy line, and possibly called the "Primacy Energy".
