Which sequence of numbers within the VIN# tell you when your car was made (1st or 24,000th?)

Thanks.

The last six digits of the VIN will give you the production number. I'm assuming that they'll start over again for vehicles produced in Kentucky.

I'm thinking my TCH was one of the last ones made in Japan, #25011. All Japan-made VINs start with a J correct? Where do you look to find out the date of production?

The date of production is located on a plate on the driver's side door post.

Just picked mine up last night. #25991 Made in Japan..

Also - I did not hear that they were ceasing production in Japan, just that the ones destined for the USA and Canada would be built here. Wrong?

Yes. Japan-made ones have VINs start with a J. Also, as some people have noted on this board that units came from Japan have a square hole (covered, of couse) on the front bumper.

Any one has a production number substantially higher than 25991?

Hi, we haven't picked up our car yet, but we have the vin. Starts with a J, last numbers are 26363. Should be getting it next week. It will be Rich's vehicle but I have had a great time reading all of the posts here and telling him about all the information. I had a 1983 corolla wagon. Best vehicle I ever owned. It was 11 years old and had 114,000 miles when it was stolen in Culver City, Ca and completely stripped. But I digress... Laurie (Rich's wife)

I have a Japanese non-NAV TCH with production # > 27900. Purchased right before Thanksgiving.
