Default Range of key buttons

I've noticed that the lock/unlock buttons on my key seem to have a very short range (about a couple of feet). Is this normal or is anyone else getting much more range?

My lock/unlock buttons work over an amazing distance. I can hit the lock button and see the lights flash from about 100 feet. I tried it just the other day when walking to the stairs in the parking structure. I would guess I was 20 cars away (parked side by side)

I can stand at my front door and lock/unlock the car while it is at least 15 feet away in the driveway. I know that our dealership tested one of the key fobs from INSIDE the showroom while the car was parked in the front of the lot, which is at least 100 feet away and I saw the lights flash.

I think I read somewhere the range is about 90ft.

On the other hand, there is a very small range around the car for keyless entry -- only a few feet. There are 6 different detectors for keyless entry and start:
  • Outside left
  • Outside right
  • Outside rear
  • Inside front
  • Inside rear
  • Inside trunk

Could someone please test the remote start from inside the trunk? Thanks so much.

Thanks for info. Looks like I'm going to need to get that checked out.
