well the car was not purchased new, it has passed 2 roadworthy's in 2 different jurisdictions, the yellowish is just muddy dust, but it looks like a coating of something.

I'm not really sure what I am looking at, but the finish other than the colour looks like undercoating. Usually undercoating is black. Sometimes this is done aftermarket.

If the oil drip is from the wind deflector that's under part of the engine. Then you may need a mechanic to remove the panel to see where it's dripping from like the bottom of the engine, tranny area.

A slim possibility it could be a tiny leak from the oil filter. It's located to the left center of the side of the engine, to the right of AC compressor.

You may be able to reach it by leaning over the top of the radiator. Only with the car cooled off, you might try reaching below the filter to see if it's wet with oil.

Their is a opening in the air deflector enough you can see the bottom of the oil filter using a drop light, again to see if their is any oil on the bottom of it. This would be by laying on your back, sliding in from the front center of the car. At least that might eliminate the oil filter. If it's the culprit simply have the filter replaced.

I'm looking as forward as you are to finding out where the drip is coming from.

ok, i took the car in for a service and they confirm to me that there is a small auto transmission leak coming from somewhere, they washed down the area however they informed me to bring the car in next wed and keep it there for the day so they can investigate further and fix if necessary as it could be a big job, covered under warranty.

ok update to my transmission leak,

went today as they told me to come in, left the car there from 730am to 3pm, went to pick up the car and the service guy told me that it is fixed!

the problem was a washer or something which was worn and they had to replace it, so now it is all good!

i am so happy!

just to make sure I have placed a new cardboard under the car and will check the cardboard tomorrow morning, hopefully i won't find anything!
