Poor AM reception

Poor AM reception
Hello all,
Does anyone here have a problem with their AM radio reception?(I know, who uses their Am radio at all)
I can pick up stations fine at a full stop or in e-mode, but as soon as the ICE kicks on, it drowns out the stations I'm listening to with a high pitched whine or whistle like cars in the 70's, when you had to put the noise filter inline with the radio to block the EMI from the plug wires and the alternator.
Anyone else have the same problem?

Re: Poor AM reception
Did you tint your rear window? Metallic tints will cause poor AM radio reception. The antenna is part of the rear window.
Otherwise, there is a problem. I would definitely take it to the dealer and have them check it out.
My TCH has excellent AM (and FM) reception. I often listen to LA stations in San Diego. Never had a problem with any noise, or whine, with the ICE running or not.

Re: Poor AM reception
I've noticed that overall reception (both AM and FM) are lacking on the TCH compared to my previous cars. I hear static on some stations in the TCH that used to have strong signals (no static) in my other cars.

Re: Poor AM reception
I listen to AM fairly often, quality is usually just fine. I have gotten the previously documented no-volume issue when using the mode button to switch to AM once, maybe twice. If I recall, that happened when I was pressing the mode button quickly through the choices.

Re: Poor AM reception
There is a new TSB dealing with poor AM reception. The fix is replacing the radio with an improved version. There are model numbers for the NAV and NonNAV radios. The radios need to be ordered by a dealer through the appropriate (Fujitsu-Ten or Denso) replacement program to apply to the warrantee. Check with your dealer.
