Default Poll of TCH Issues

I love my TCH and don't want it to appear that I am dwelling only on the negatives, but I (and I am sure others of you) have experienced some defects or similar issues that we would like to see addressed. I am not referring to the amenities that you wish you had (like auto-up windows and sliding arm rests), but rather the mechanical, structural or design flaws etc. that you have had to contend with and have (or may soon) cost you time and/or money to remedy. My particular issue is a chipped windshield. I know many of you also have complained of squeaks in the console and worse.

I'd like to start a poll among TCHer's (we gotta find a better name!) to see how frequent these issues may be. I did a search but to the best of my knowledge this hasn't been done here before. First, lets get a list together. I will start with:

1. Cracked/chipped windshield
2. Squeak in console

Please add to this as you see fit. In a few days I'll try to post a poll. OK?

Well, I guess my only issue is with the Sirius radio distortion. I am waiting on another member who has the same issue (I believe) to inform me if a Jumper he will have installed is the fix to this issue.

My other issues are..

MPG: when I see everyone else getting better MPG it bugs me. I get around 31 but to be fair I have not had the ECO on and always have the AC cranked. (I have a full tank now so I'll see in a week or two).

Price I paid: I feel I got taken. I paid $30,500 (No Nav, No moonroof, No spoiler No Floor mats and no pin stripe)

What I do like

The AC system: man that air is COLD and gets COLD FAST!

The sound system: I added one 10 inch woofer and amp for bass and it rocks

I like that it opens my garage without the remote hooked to my visor

I like how quiet it is well driving

I like watching all the diffrent screens that show AVG speed, MPG and all

MPG is good for the most part, as I said above I would like more MPG.

I could go on but those stand out the most.

That would be me and they told me the jumper is in, so I'll call today and set an appointment. I ama bit skeptical about this, but we'll see.

Try turning off the amp driving the woofer. Maybe that's what's driving down the mileage.

Hey Kluken
I think the issue is in the Toyota radio like the FJ Cruiser but a jumper might be the fix, as you said we'll see. I hope the jumper doesn't take down the quality of the sound. I cross my fingers and wish ya luck.

Thumbs up Re: Poll of TCH Issues

With more then 25000 or so cars in service I'm sure that there must be some quirks and anoiances (i'm not sure that's spelled correctly) to some owners. That being said, I have had my TCH since May 26 (my VIN number tells me that my car is one of the first 2400 built) and just this morning I checked the mileage to be 7500 miles. I can honestly say that I have had absolutely no problems or weird noices in the car. I have been experienceing between 37 mpg to about 40 mpg depending on where I'm driving. This is a number that very close to what the expectations were from the advertising.

I have a full loaded model and paid just over $30k which was the sticker price on the car. I had an XM radio installed after delivery, from another Toyota dealer that the one I purchased the car from, and have had no problems with that as well. I'm hoping that this experience will continue.

My wife also drives a Toyota, Solara convertible, that's about 5 years old and has also had no problems with the car so I do feel confortable with the Toyota product. I had traded in a 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid that I had owned less than a year for the Camry Hybrid.

I do feel sorry for those owners that are experienceing a negative experience.

We have passed 10k miles now and the only thing we can even coment on is that one day 2 or 3 we noticed a near tear in the leather of the right front seat. Not sure if we sat on something sharp or if it was there from the dealer so I am not sure we can complain about it. We have slight issues with the routing of the NAV system but the more we use it the more we like the other features so....

Love this car.

So far we have 1700 mi., so we really haven't had any issues with quality and are pleased with fuel mi.( 34-39mpg). Come to think of it the AC seems to emit a musty smell when on fresh intake, switching to recirc., lessens it and I have tried both ECO and standard settings, w/ same results. I was wondering if the current TCH's are being built in the USA, as advertised, or are being built in Japan, I heard the first TCH's were built in Japan, and if this could be related to quality issues.
