Yes - exceptionally complex systems in these cars. I'm a certified journeyman mechanic (well prior to the days of ASE) and a technologist to boot. I love the myriad of systems in these cars - but at the same time I'm somewhat intimidated by them without the proper computerized tooling to actually service all aspects of the car as I'm used to...

And if it ain't Boeing - I ain't going....
I know too many Techs, Inspectors and pilots for NW (now Delta) and others....

And now what's left for us DIYers other that oil and 3 filters...or maybe a few factory design flaws here and there.
