Partial plug-in solution for TCH
Like many who have posted here, I have been very pleased with my TCH. (I've had it just a year, this month.)
But also like many others, I have been disappointed by two things:
1. Lots of times when I have a short trip to run, the car simply will not allow me do it on battery power alone, even if I have nearly a full state of charge.
2. In city or even mixed driving, I have never (not even once) been able to achieve mpg equal to the EPA city rating over a whole tank of fuel.
A little over a week ago, however, I finally got my partial plug-in equipment installed, and all is better now.
Last Friday night I plugged it in for the first time. Saturday morning I drove to the convenience store and back virtually on battery power alone. Except for the unavoidable brief ice bursts at first start-up, the ICE never ran at all.
And...........over the last week I have seen a decrease of a good 10% to 15% decrease in fuel consumption-----maybe more!
