Park Pilot (backup sensors)
Has anybody ordered a TCH with the backup sensor option? If so I'm wondering how well they perform? The following is a picture of this option from the Canadian website:-

There are four sensors although as they colour match the bumper you have to look carefully to see them!
I find this type of device better than the camera as it provides an audible warning when I back into my underground parking space.

I have this system and find it works quite well. I don't blindly trust them yet, but they have done a pretty good job so far. They seem to have decent side vision too. Mine will detect my garage door opening as I'm backing out even though nothing is directly behind me. I'm happy with my decision to include them. The manual explains the types of situations you have to be aware of where these might not yield perfect results (one example being curbs, you'll hear a warning tone as you back torward a curb but as you get closer the curb falls under the sensor area so warning tones stop).

I have aloe green TCH on order with the Park Pilot option. This is one of the few vehicle colours that does not have colour matched sensors. They will be black so I plan to paint them but would like to confirm that painting will not upset the sensing capability. Do you have any experience painting the sensors?
Thanks!

Really? I didn't know that! Can you get Jasper Pearle also, or not? I know there have been others on the list that have pointed out differences between US and Canadian vintages, but I didn't realize that the color options were different. Gotta watch out or you'll learn something new every day!
Ok...I have answered my own question...I checked out toyota.ca... Canada has the Aloe Green instead of Jasper Pearle and they have Frosted Mink Pearl instead of Desert Sand Mica (guess they have more 'minks' than 'deserts' up there!
) White also has a different name...alpine white instead of super white...
