Default Newbie

Just picked up my TCH last night in Seattle. I had to drive almost 400 Miles to my home. I love the car!!!!!! I had to go over the Cascade Mountains. Chains were required. I didn't think to buy chains before I left. I thought that I could buy some chains on the way to the mountains. Wrong! I took a chance and proceeded. (stupid) The car went through it like a 4X4! I won't do it again,I'll get snow tires.

What experience have you had in the snow?

Congratulations and welcome to GreenHybrid!

I've not driven mine in snow yet but this being Minnesota - it won't be long...

So - did you buy the chains? Or did you drive without them and it still went through the snow like a 4x4?

I didn't buy the chains. The car tire shops were all closed. I went without chains!! The car performed wonderfully, however,I wouldn't do it again!!

I live in eastern WA and we just got our first snow...4-6 inches. I did buy chains the other day because you never know when chains will be required to go over Snoqualmie Pass. Today's driving around town was just great. We have a 200 ft long driveway (not plowed) with about an 8-10% grade and the car went up and down it with no problem. The anti-skid/stability did kick in a few times...there is a light that comes on below the "E" that looks like the 'slick road' warning sign on highways to let you know when it is working. We will be going across the pass next weekend so will probably get a good workout then.

BTW, where do you live that you went to Seattle to buy your car? Montana? Couldn't you find a car any closer?

I, too, will soon have the joy of driving in the snow.

Which tires did your Camry come with?

I live in Bend. The dealer in Kirkland saved me about $3700.

The car came with Bridgestone Turuzas

You will have plenty of snow driving then! Mine came with the Michelin all season tires.
