Re: My Buddy Drives a Hummer H2
I'd be curious what the dimensions of the bed of the H2 SUT is
I hate to admit it but before my transformation I considered an H2. When I looked in the back (this one had a spare in the back sitting standing up against the left side) there was very little room behind the 2nd row of seats. Add to that I don't think my wife could have reached up into it for the groceries. I decided that even ignoring the 10mpg, the difficulty in driving rural roads, city streets and parking it, the thing just wasn't practical.

Unfortunately, most of those who actually purchase H2/H3s (at least in Orange County, CA) wouldn't even think of getting mud splashed on their vehicles. Most of these suburbanites will never face the conditions that these vehicles were built for and that's where purchasing these monstrosities is a waste. Having a vehicle like this might be justified if you need to drive across unforgiving territory on a regular basis, like ranchers or park rangers, which probably excludes virtually all of the people who choose to buy these vehicles. Then again, if you're a rancher or a park ranger, you'd probably opt for a F-150/Silverado on Ranchos over a H2/H3.
+1 on getting your friend to increase his mileage. Maybe if he tried a few FAS/DWL/DWB techniques, he might get to 14MPG.

Re: My Buddy Drives a Hummer H2
A funny thing happened this morning. I usually arrive at my office by using a short-cut through a Hilton Hotel parking lot. This morning there was a big GM meeting being held there. They had a big inflatable cube with GM on it and about a dozen guys in suits hanging out in the parking lot. When I came up on them, Of course, I was in 'stealth mode' and as I approached them, they all spun around to see. I couldn't help chuckling as I drove by them and parked the TCH FAR away from where there event was being held where I could keep an eye on the car.. You never know, they may resort to sabotage!.
