Default my 07 TCH got attacked and broke in

I was in new york few weeks ago. I drove to and from there.

I onced parked my car around 12 pm daylight on a street between some houses and a bridge. It was not at like someone's backyard.

After returning to my car at around 2 pm, I saw my front passenger side window glass smashed and broken in to.

The window glass was all broke and the theif had stolen some of the coins I had hidden. Apparently, it maybe caouse I had part of my GPS glued to the front windsheild window but I didn't leave my GPS visible for theif to steal and it was hidden in my trunk.

The theid had stolen one of my cd bag which diidn't have any good cds.
He had threw my stuffs everywhere on front seat but had not stole one of my coat in backseat nor had opened trunk and stole my bag full of new clothes and shoes and my GPS.

I was very angry and disapointed too cos who would think someone would break in to a new car on broad day light on a street.

I called cop and the cop took away the screw driver left on the seat which was used first to smash the window and later may have kicked or punched .

It was on friday evening and I had to leave on monday to chicago and most rapair shops will only put glass on monday so I with my freinds went to an area full of junk shops and I got window replaced for $120.
The window seemed to be new and the box said made in USA but the worker had hard time putting it in as the stuff that had hole was too small and they had to drill to make the hole larger . Now i dont know if it was the wrong window or tiny peices of glass left on window door side inside, whenever I close that front passenger side door, I hear bad noise.
How much would a front passenger side window glass would cost?
Mine came directly from Japan.
Insurance doesn't cover this right? I have $500 deductible.

I am sorry to hear that. I live in the NYC area and recently my Rav4 was broken into for the GPS. It is very important that you NEVER leave any trace of a stand-alone GPS device in your car when you part. GPS theft around here is RAMPANT. Never leave the base attached to your windshield, never glue or permanently attach the base to your car. Also, when you leave, wipe the windshield so there are no circles left behind by the suction cup. If there is any trace of a GPS in your car, there is a good chance someone is going for it!

As for your insurance, if you have the extra auto glass coverage then insurance should cover it without a deductible, but if you don't have the extra glass coverage your probably on your own.

Glass breakage is covered under Comprehensive. If you have Comprehensive you may or may not have a deductible. Check your policy.

Sorry for your loss and trouble. Check your insurance policy- or call your agent.

That said, you can't leave anything in view when you park your car in any public places. Thieves have no limits- long ago they realized that no one will stop them or call police if they do a smash and grab in broad daylight. Even if someone does call, it will take the cops 5-15 minutes to arrive- and they'll be long gone.

I suggest that you leave nothing in view. You can't even leave the GPS cradle on your windshield. they'll assume that your GPS is in the console or glove box. Some thieves even look for marks on the windshield itself to see if a suction cup was previously mounted.

In today's world you really have to be careful- leave nothing in sight.
