Default MPG Fun...

I suspect that by now most of us know that over a given course of 2-4 miles we can really drive the avg mpg incredibly high. I'm just curious as to how high some of us can achieve.

Currently my best, after a fresh fill-up is: 85.9 mpg after 2.6 miles.

The fun part of this is telling family/friends that you've achieved this kind of average and to watch their expressions before you tell them it was primarily the result of using your batteries.

What's your best?

56.5 is my record for my 10.4 mi commute. Trip average though, since I haven't filled up since 2/17. I think I got 80-90 mpg for 2-3 miles on a mostly downhill return trip.

I haven't checked short trips, but my best trip was 47.7 mpg on a 63 mile trip.

I've seen 99.9 mpg over 3 miles, but it was one pulse, and a loooong glide.

Over a longer distance, the best I've done is 51mpg over 75 miles. That was mostly "freeway " driving. By that I mean heavy rush hour traffic going between 25 to 45 mph most of the time! I'd guess about half the tank I was going normal speeds, 60 mph or so.

I was able to manage a 53.8 (indicated) mpg run on a 17 mile commute home last fall. The drive is about 50% interstate (DC beltway traffic) and 50% main roads/neighborhoods. I typically get about 43 mpg on that same commute.

88.6 mpg for 7.6 mi on a return trip today. I only got 35.2 mpg on the outbound trip. There was a fair amount of elevation gain.

99.9 miles per gallon. It's a straight shot downhill about 1 mile from the gas station... 25 mph zone.

My best is 52.3 after filling up. I went 20+ miles. My problems is I have a steep uphill climb after leaving the gas station.

My best trip was a 200 mile trip between Kansas City and Lincoln, NE - and back for a total of 400+ miles. The trip up was 52.7 mpg and the return trip was 53.3.. Had a southern tail wind going up and a northern tail wind coming back. Terrain is mostly flat with a few rolling hills. Tried to keep speed at ~ 65 and outside temp was around 70
