I originally was just going to PM Haraldo about this but figured I'd share my dumba$$ experience of just a little while ago. I can already hear Haraldo telling me "I told you so!!!!"

Haraldo once warned me to always shut my sunroof because you never know what can get in. Well I took a break at work today and went to a small store to get some gum and a pop. It was in the 90's and sunny when I left. I figured when I get back that I only had a couple of hours left at work and I didn't want my car to be sweltering hot when I left....so I left the sun roof open. Wouldn't you know but about an hour later I walk by the main door and it's pouring out. Thank God for leather seats. My seats were wet and the back seat mats had a small amount of water on them...no puddles. I shut the window and then went and got some towels. Then after the owner left and freed up some space infront of our dock door inside I pulled my car in an am letting it air out. Hopefully on the drive home with the A\C on it will wick out the rest of the moisture.

Next time Haraldo speaks I will heed his words!!

 

LOL...now if only my kids would listen!

I believe it's only us midwesterners that say that!!! I knew just knew that someone was going to give me smack about that!!!

 

I was going to ask you about the hour long store visit for gum and pop.
No 7-11's out there? Usually in and out in under 5 minutes.

 

"Pop" is Midwestern - Michigan, etc.

In the true "West", we call it soda.

I remember at a gas station about 20 years ago somewhere in BFE Michigan and asking the guy where I could buy some soda. He gave me a odd look, and so I repeated it. He was "Uh? Not sure what you are talking about?" So I said, "You know, Coke, Pepsi, that sort of thing".

The guys eyes get wide and says "Oh! You mean POP!" (and he said it "Paaaawwwppp"

My buddy with me couldn't stop laughing. The rest of the trip is was "pop" this and "pop" that.

I've learned so much from that site...People that say pop are inbred.

 

This was a 7-11 I went to. I was there and back in under 10 minutes. I saw the rain an hour after I had been back.

At least it was only water and not a RAT!

 

My wife often comments that although we grew up 2 miles apart (in the Chicago 'burbs), we apparently speak completely different languages.

As a kid, I would sit on the davenport after drinking a soda with my supper, she would sit on the couch after drinking pop with her dinner.

Not to mention y'all vs. youse, and a number of other conflicts in our dialects.
