Just a tidbit of info on the Milage Database

Just did a quick excel spreadsheet calc on the database; if you eliminate all the vehicles with less than 2000 miles you still have within 0.1 of the average of 37.1mpg.
Useful, not really, just an observation

I stopped adding to the database b/c I missed a few fillups and the database doesn't seem to have a way to accomodate. Should I just add my next fillup sequentially after the mileage the database THINKS I am at?
Yes, I think that's the best way. As long as members don't intentionally leave out data for low mileage tanks, for instance, it shouldn't skew the figures one way or another. What we're mostly after is the final mileage figure for each car.

I assume if you wanted you could go in and edit any tanks and then add the new ones to get them in order.
I like to show all my tanks with notes so that those with low milage have the opportunity to see what's achievable with a little effort. Of course you always have to take in the geographical differences. I can't imagine any one having an overall worse terrain then central WV, but some do have crowded cities that I don't deal with.

I assume you mean just for the TCH part of the database- you didn't run calculations on the whole database, did you? I haven't checked- would 37 even BE a reasonable average for the whole database? This may be a silly question, sorry.
How the heck do you get your data base goodie to show up on your signature line?
When I go to the user CP under “signature line” and paste in my data goodie from my data base and view it everything looks a ok, then I press "save signature" but nothing shows up on previous posts?
What am I doing wrong?
EDIT: Never mind! It works now? I guess it gets activated on your next post.

I just ran it on the TCH's. I sorted them by top to bottom by milage and eliminated the ones under 2000 miles. Back calculating each car to figure out total gallons by car and then took total miles divided by total gallons. The result, 37.09 against 37.1 for all.
What's the point???? One thing it tells me is that the newer drivers are getting the same milage on average as the seasoned drivers. Yrt you still have ranges for the most part between 34 and 40 in both groups. For the drivers over 2000 miles and still getting less than 36 it appears to be a choice in many cases that they simply want to drive the car and are OK with 36 or less (still great isn't it). For the drivers under 2000 miles you can decide, do you want to be a fanatic and go for the high FE or just drive the car and get great but less than outstanding milage? Either way you can't lose.

Yes it does take a little time to post and make changes after you add a tank. However note that when you put the cursor on my signature you can click on it and it will take you to my statistics on the database.
I wish I could tell you how to do this but you'll have to dig way back in the postings because I had help to do this and can't tell you. Perhaps (and I can't remember if it was CGameProgrammer that told me) he will start a new thread to tell us all again how to make the signature link up with the database? That's a pretty neat option
