Maybe I over obsessed a little about the plastic pieces lining up, still it looked like ***. Just my experience. Still 100x better than any Honda product I've ever owned.

Cars made in Japan have a square plug in the front bumper. This plug covers a place to connect a harness during overseas shipping.
I just purchased my TCH (VIN starting w/J ) but it had holes in the bumper for a license plate. I didn't neeed a front plate and I did not want the hole messing up my bumper. The dealer found a similar car on the lot w/o holes and swapped the bumper out. Both bumpers had the plug and both came from a J car. The US cars did not have the plug.
I think that plastic tab is removed and you place the screw in tow hook there. You'll find a hook with the spare tire in the trunk.

My Kentucky built TCH is perfect so far. Everything is lined up and smooth.

My TCH is a Kentucky build and so far I have not noticed any flaws in paint nor interior quality, it's exactly the same as the Japan builds from what I can see.

mine was built in Japan, my sister's in Kentucky. The "door lock" switch inside the door, on the panel is different. Mine has crappy Bridgestone tires (that are practically bald at 19k) and she has Michelins. Other than that they are identical and seem to have the same level of quality.

"how do i know if my car is made in Japan or Kentucky ?"

Just honk the horn. You can tell by the accent.

ACTually, I was at first dismayed to learn that my TCH is Kentuckian, but I have absolutely no complaints about fit, finish, and function. I love the thing. I'd park it in the living room but my wife says no.

If your VIN begins with a J, it's made in Japan.. If it's a number, then its made in the US. I forget which one is for KY: 1, 4 or 5.. If I had to guess, I'd say 4

The VIN starts with a 4 for Kentucky builds. Mine is from Kentucky and I do not see any issues with paint, fit or finish throughout the car. At least, not so far...

My Camry Hybrid is Japan made. I see only one flaw. I do not like the adhesive used to bind the seat covers. Let's off a funky smell. I assume they use a different adhesive in the US? Wonder where they got that adhesive. My cabin filter is new. Other than that, I'm happy with 41 mph city driving.
