Default How To Remove Gatorade Drop From Leather Seat?

My wife got a drop of red Gatorade on the leather passenger's seat today. It's about the size of a dime, perhaps smaller, right between the legs, about an inch in from the front edge.

Is there going to be any way of getting this out? What's my best bet? If it matters, I have the bisque interior.

Red face Re: How To Remove Gatorade Drop From Leather Seat?

My worst nightmare... I have an 08 Camry Hybrid, i purchased a protective seal treatment for the leather (about $400) and i carry a travel pack of Shout Wipes in the glove compartment. Have had the car for less than a month and I'm nervous about messing up my creamy interior prematurely.

Good luck!

Some warm water, a drop of Woolite, and a soft cotton towel.
Wash, rinse, repeat.

Thanks. I started with just warm water. That took a lot of it out. Then I added some Woolite to the mix, and that did better. I can still see it, but it's pretty faint.

Good. Try a dab of GooGone on a wet cloth to finish it off.

Wait! NO! DON'T!! GooGone is very strong and may ruin the leather and its underlining. Mild soap is the strongest you should use.

No it won't. Just a dab that's diluted with water won't do anything harmful.

Many years ago, when I worked in a bike shop, I was cleaning a titanium bike that was quite dirty. Being bare titanium metal, I was free to use any chemicals w/o fear of harming the finish. I tried citrus degreaser (similar to GooGone) and even acetone but the Gatorade splatter around the water bottle holders wasn't coming off. In the end, it was plain old water that removed it. I guess the old rule of like dissolves like applied.

If there's any residual stain, just give it some time. Lots of organic stains will fade on their own. I know from cleaning up my iguana and birds.

I'm not altogether convinced that the coloring in gatorade is from an organic source

What? I thought there was a Red #4 plant growing somewhere!

I really wish you could buy a version of Gatorade without food coloring. I like the taste, but the red dye (I like the Berry & Fruit Punch) really scares me. My house has light colored carpet and my Camry has the beige interior.

Reminds me of a trip to Canada. I like orange tic-tacs and in Canada they don't put food coloring in them. They color the box orange instead.
