I still have an issue of letting the car run unattended in the first place. I got this car to minimize pollution, save fuel and the concept of running the car just to defrost the windows defeats that concept big time. Get the engine heater option if it's that big of a deal. OK that won't work at work in a parking lot unless you're in Minnesota and they have outlets everywhere (I'm told).
I do plenty of freeway driving.
I was just getting creative with what might be done.
It's called thinking outside of the box.
If people never thought outside the box - you wouldn't be driving a hybrid.

While inside your car, can you open the car with the release and keep it in the open state? While it's in this open position, can you then lock the door (press the lock button)? This was a way to lock Honda's without using the key. I am wondering if this works for the Camry.

This morning I tried to lock the car while it was running. Took my husband's fob with me to try to lock it...didn't work. Tried to manipulate the lock button inside the car, even holding the door latch in the open position (works on another car of ours) and that didn't work. The only thing I just realized I didn't try was to take my own fob out of the car after starting it and trying to use that to lock it...oh, I guess I didn't try the button on the outside, either. Will try those options in the morning.

Still need to work on seeing if I can get an engine block heater ... it's looking to be a COLD winter!

Does the fob have roll up window option? If so can you press the lock button through the window?

Not that I have tried but sure hope that this works - pull the metal key insert out of the keyfob and use that to lock/unlock the running car! Let me know if this works.

I was wondering why nobody has just locked the thing with the metal key?

I don't leave it running unattended, but if I got a dog and had him/her with me, I might leave it running in the summer to keep the dog cool. But right now, I am more interested in keeping the mileage up instead.
