Re: how do i get better fuel economy
Rob, I've been putting this off but today you're the lucky poster. I don't want this to be taken wrong, but two or three times a week new owners come on and ask this same question.
The answers are already in the posts. By asking this question eventually someone will post a few tips but seldom does the same question get the same attention it did a month earlier. If you don't want to miss out you will need to look back.
I finally posted a couple of pages of tips on edmunds.com because they created a new thread for tips and techniques.
Unfortunately this forum is not set up to be able to track one thread easily. If a post goes a week without a comment it gets lost several pages back. However, this forum is a more friendy and personal bunch than on edmunds and this forum has the database which is cool.
First hint. It's not really about driving gently although that can help there are things you have to do to maximize the hybrid systems impact.

Do you pull a grade or live in a hilly area? Hills and grades really knock the mileage down.
I don't drive mine easy, pull a grade as my normal commute and I'm averaging 31.7mpg.
Before it was broke in I was in the low 29mpg range.

WV, it would be great if you could post a link to the Edmunds thread for the tips and techniques for the readers of this forum to refer to. Thanks ahead of time.
