I just got home after a long drive 39.8 MPG (smiling). I read this entry and got back in the car to try it out. It seems to me that this feature does work on a slight incline, but not on a modest one. I will continue to experiment.

Has anyone else found the same to be true?

Byron

Mine seems maybe a bit less effective as compared to my previous cars with AT. Maybe it works OK on slight inclines, but even on the ramps of car parking decks, it seems to roll back fairly easily.

I tried this the other day. I was on a incline and mine started to roll back.

I have a VW Touareg with very aggressive "hill holding". It would hold on a vertical wall if I could get the wheels to stick. In contrast, the TCH is very weak at best. In fact, I would say it is essentially non-existent and/or completely ineffective.

Is there any literature from Toyota that states the Camry Hybrid has hill holding capabilities? The link provided in this thread earlier (Hill Start Control) seems to be discussing the Hybrid Synergy Drive in general, but the picture and illustartion clearly show a Prius. Given that the Camry Hybrid doesn't truly "glide" like the Prius either, it seems to me that while both cars share the Hybrid Synergy Drive their systems are not identical.

My garage/house is on an incline and mine rolls back and has never held.
