Default Has the TCH gotten scarcer?

We got our TCH a few weeks ago. I kind of pushed my wife into agreeing to buy then, as thanks to the folks here at the Green Hybrid forum, we found the car in the right color combination. She was thinking of waiting a few weeks to see if we could get a little better price.

Now I'm wondering if we made a really smart move. I'm checking local dealers on-line here in the Los Angeles area, and few have any TCH cars available at all. The odds of us having got the right color combination before September 30th is looking kind of long now if we had waited. Is that what you folks are seeing nationally, or is this a local/temporary phenomenon?

Thanks!

Donald

It is very hard to find TCH. This is especially true for the models with Navigation.
If you find one get it right away; otherwise it'll be gone very soon. People usually wait weeks to get one if not months. hint: Check out the different dealers' inventory online. I got mine 10 minutes after they got it in their inventory. (I had a couple of test drives earlier though)

I doubt that they are getting scarcer. While more people are indeed becoming interested, there was a large amount of people waiting on lists to get the limited numbers coming in at first. Now that deliveries are steady and the initial flush is over I suspect that what you see is normal across the country and it's probably just your perception that they are more scarce.

BTW: I looked at the old posting where someone had a map of the US and we tagged it with our address. It was interesting that either there are none (or few) TCH's being sold between the Rockies and the Mississippi or else those folks just don't use the Internet much and thus don't make the forum. The majority of the cars were located along the coast (left and right)

I do find it interesting as well that Toyota is not shipping more loaded cars. I guess I was lucky that mine was loaded as that's what I wanted and it didn't occur to me that they would be the harder ones to find. My dealer did not get but one in (mine) before the June 5th deadline for the WV State Tax Credit and I feel fortunate that I was able to deal with people I like, get a good deal and still get the state tax credit ($3750)

I would guess that with the tax credit falling off September 30th, that indeed the CamHy may be getting scarcer in the last month or 45 days.

It's quite possible that there has been a population of people sitting on the fence as to whether or not to purchase a CamHy...or maybe they had wanted to buy later in the year, but after finding the credit drops in half Oct 1, they sped up their buying decision.

After all, buying the car Sept 30th vs Oct 1 means thirteen hundred cold hard smackeroonies in your pocket...that's significant.

You are not going to get TCHs for under MSRP any time soon - UNLESS:

Will be interesting to see if dealers start coming off MSRP after Oct 1st when the credit is reduced, and to see if the supply goes up.

I love this quote:

Quote:
Case in point, the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid, which has to be the best $25,900 car in the history of the universe.
