If yes have you observed any noticeable difference in sound levels?

 

I took a rock with only 1500 miles on the car. Replaced with factory standard Toyota windshield (not Hybrid specific) and seems fine

 

Somewhere there are posts on this forum about this.....back maybe a year? Maybe more.

The windshields are different.

Though a standard Camry one might fit in the space.....the hybrid is a heavier car and has a windshield made specifically for it for some reason. (darn....wish I had bookmarked that thread and kept it) I just did a quick site search and found this one (there were a couple other)

The hybrid windshield has the sound dampening material in the laminate.

Yep I'm aware of that thread, but the Camry Hybrid GVW is not heavier than the V6 XLE GVW.

So I don't buy the structural argument.

 

I also do not buy the structural argument, but the Camry Hybrid is heavier than the XLE V6. (At least the US model)

According to the 2007 Camry brochure:
Camry Hybrid: 3,680 pounds
Camry XLE V6: 3,516 pounds

According to Toyota's website, the 2009 models have the same weight.

 

I had my windshield replaced and the body shop actually got the plain old camry windshield but didn't want to put it in- so they pushed the install of like another week- I eventually just went to another body shop who got it right the first time...

 

You're absolutely right about the weight I don't know what I was thinking.
