They did have the Mobil 1, 5-20W, 5 quart container, as well at Walmart. It was the same price - $22. They told me when I picked up my TCH about a month ago that it came with Snythetic oil in it ... they didn't say the weight, but assume it was probably 5-20W. Thinking old school, you were suppose to run synthetic oil in a car until it was broke in, but guess that has changed and now it is okay.

Old school went out in the late 70's. Most upper end cars now come with a factory fill of synthetic oil. The TCH has 0w-20 from the factory and will take either that or 5w-20 "per the manual". They are prefered to help out the mileage rating on the car.

Thanks GeorgiaHybrid for the info on the 0-20W from the factory. That's what I will replace it with on my first oil change. I've been a Pennz Oil user for 30 plus years in all my vehicles, but will probably change to Mobile 1 as I'm not sure that Pennz Oil makes the 0-20W synthetic -- at least I didn't see it at 3 different car part stores I stopped in this weekend. Walmart did have the Pennzoil Platimum but it was only 5-20W.

Shouldn't that read "The TCH has 0w-20 from the factory and will take either that or 5w-20 "per the manual". They are prefered to help out the mileage rating on the car.

jbollt, good catch, it's been a hard day today...

I do use 5w-20 in most of my cars (Honda's, Ford's and Toyota's)

I just had our local Toyota dealer tell me that the factory will recommend only the 0-20 for the 2010's. Anyone else hear this? I don't trust this dealer too much.

I heard this on another board. The critics are saying this is a strategic mistake if they're going to require a change every 5k miles or less. Another comment was that the interval was going to be extended to 10k miles.

But I have a hard time seeing Toyota allowing that.

With the forced use of expensive synthetic, alot of people will be ripped off by dealers pumping bulk into their engines.

My Mom just purchased a 2010 Camry LE and they are specifying 0W-20 for it on the 2.5L engine. My guess is to boost mileage.

Yes, I understand that is the case. I haven't crawled under the car to find it yet. I see in other threads people are saying there is a special tool to remove the canister.
