For fun: most miles on one tank of gas?

Just seems unwise to risk damage like that.

I've also found the gas gauge will go a bit below empty. My TCH has 2.5 gallons left at that point. Going 30 miles past 0 miles to empty still leaves over 2 gallons left for me. It is quite nice not to have to worry about running out right at E.

Re: For fun: most miles on one tank of gas?
Sorry to revitalize this old, old thread but I'm looking for confirmation.
I've only had one fill-up since I got my TCH a month ago. The displayed "cruising range" remaining was about 60 miles but the car only took 14 gallons.
A few questions:
1. I have never seen the amber "low fuel" light...when does it come on?
2. Please confirm that the car adjusts the displayed "cruising range" with each new tank of gas to reflect actual fuel economy. Is there any driver action required to make this happen? (I'm averaging about 43mpg, but the displayed "cruising range" when I filled up was only 560 miles) How many fill-ups does it take for the "cruising range" to start reflecting actual performance?
Many thanks!

Each time you fill up the cruising range will adjust some. When I first got the car my mileage was about 38 mpg and the cruising range was about 530 - 540 miles. I now have about six tanks with the last few greater than 40 mpg. Now when I fill up the cruising range is over 600 miles.
Look at Nash's avatar. It shows a cruising range in the high 600 mile range.
