Smile First Dealer Visit, Since Sale

Today, the Silver Bullet went in for it's first service. The only warranty work that had to be done, was a new Sun Visor. They ordered it & will install it next week. Had them change the factory default from "recirculating air" to "fresh air". Took them about an hour to figure out how to do it. They said mine was the first request. They also said, that the car is loaded with computer stuff. Very satisfied with the dealer service. Don't look forward to the 60,000 mile checkup. They said that runs over $500. Wow!

Ronr, I'm curious which dealer you went to?

I have been invited to a new Toyota dinner this week at East Coast Toyota. This is not just for TCH owners but all Toyota models.

I have had 2 oil changes, one was paid for by my platinum extended warranty. I'm jsut wondering if the 60K service is covered by that as well

I had my dealer do the same for the A/C and it took them a while to to figure it out too - and they only charged my a 1/2 hour.....

I've fallen into this trap before - be sure to compare what the manufacturer recommends for the 60,000 mile checkup and what the "dealer" recommends....the dealer always recommends more. The dealer always says that it's recomended that you do x, y and z - but in fact the manufacturer is not recommending those things at all - it's just the dealer trying to make more money - I think it's all a big scam IMO! I don't remember what they are for the TCH - but's it's surprisingly few items....

/QUOTE]

I was just about to feel slighted by my dealer for no longer hosting the New Toyota dinners, then I read RCFlyer's post about being charged for changing the default recirc to fresh for 1/2 hour labor....My dealer did this for free. Rather have that than their free "dinner" (Altho, the last time I bought a Toyota from them, and they DID have the dinner, they handed out free oil change certificates, and I won a couple of small prizes.)

I don't think so. I have the Maintenance plan that goes up to & includes 55,000 miles. The dealer was Toyota of Morristown.

I have the 4yr/55k maintenance plan also, and I agree with you. They specifically ended the plan at 55k so that it would not cover the 60k major service at the next oil change interval (every 5k). But knowing that the 60k service is expected to cost $500 makes me feel better about what I paid for the prepaid maintenance plan, because that means the 15k, 30k, and 45k services must be at least $200 each.
