Feedback to Toyota about Nav and Phone Lockout

Re: Feedback to Toyota about Nav and Phone Lockout
YES! If we didn't give feedback, Toyota would have no idea!

Re: Feedback to Toyota about Nav and Phone Lockout
The only option I would like to be able to do on the fly is to see a list of POI's (specifically restaurants). As it stands now all you can do while driving is see an icon on the map of the POI's. I find trying to decipher between POI icons on the map to be far more dangerous than glancing at a list and then selecting what you want.
It would be nice to have access to all options while driving that way you can have the passenger do all the work.
Even though the Nav options are limited while driving, I still LOVE the car.

Re: Feedback to Toyota about Nav and Phone Lockout
Although a workaround might be better than nothing, it is not the objective of this thread. I'm trying to make sure that Toyota understands that its customers are not pleased.
I'd guess that many people are not pleased with the lockout considering:

BTW. I also have a 2007 Prius. AFAIK, there is no known way to make a hybrid DVD since a 5.1 version never existed for this model.
I'd guess that many people are not pleased with the lockout considering:
- There are many pages on the Internet dedicated to overriding the lockout
- People are willing to buy products to override the lockout
- People will even cut wires in their car to override the lockout

Yea, and people still drive with cell phones glued to their ears, drinking coffee, text messaging with their Treo's and Blackberry. All oblivious to the fact they are a hazard on the road but will never admit it.
Kudo's to Toyota.

Take note that they not only lock out the NAV & Phone,
they also hide the track info of the mp3 CD that is playing!
WHY?
The information screens are more of a distraction than anything else!

I have to try the track info issue. The station text (radio) still scrolls and shows.

Ok, I'm 24 and have no issue driving and knowing when to use the NAV. The agreement clear's Toyota of any legal risk so there is little need to lock out the NAV. I tried the voice today and it was more distracting and took longer than if I just typed it in.

The voice navigation system is very poorly implemented (even if it was accurate). It takes much longer to use than simply entering the information. I've tried sitting in the driveway using it and it is rare that you can find a full address without multiple tries.
The voice navigation system distracts you for much longer than entering the information directly.
